Well today is a great day! Made Portraits is best known for its quirky family photos and modern wedding images but I also love to photograph Commercial Advertising imagery as well.

When I got in to photography 20 years ago, I started out by assisting some really great Advertising Photographers and one in particular who introduced me to Digital Photography back in 2000. Adrian Wroth is an INCREDIBLE photographer who has taught me that above all else, great advertising images need to be composed and lit perfectly before you even take the first frame. Thanks to that mind-set, I am able to announce today that I have been Shortlisted for Advertising Photographer of the Year 2015 by the SWPP.

Photographers from all over the world enter the competition run by the SWPP and I am just one of only three photographers shortlisted in the Advertising category which is honestly fantastic. The shot itself was one of many images I have captured for Active8 Robots over the last 18 months and it features two of their robots, Baxter and Nao. Working with Active8 has been a massive amount of fun because they are a company that are passionate about what they produce as am I so it has been a great fit.

With the year now coming to a close, I am really proud of what I have achieved in 2015 and this is the icing on the cake! I have some big plans for 2016 with a couple of new styles being introduced to the portrait packages; working with the Bishops Palace in Wells as one of their recommended Wedding Photographers and collaborating with some more great companies in Somerset, Dorset and Devon on their Advertising photography.

The awards night itself will take place in London on the 23rd of January when it will be time to dust off the old kilt again and cross my fingers that I walk away as Advertising Photographer of the Year 2015. I really can’t wait.
