HAPPY NEW YEAR! Thank you so much for your support throughout 2016 and I can only hope 2017 is as much fun at the Made Portraits studio as it was last year.

It was an absolute blast setting up this New Year family photo with my girls today and was the best way to see in 2017. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the creative images we’ve put together at the Made Portraits studio over the last 12 months but my aim for this year will be to raise the bar again.

For almost 5 years now, I’ve been wanting to do a self portrait series of my family outside of the studio environment and this year will see me actually getting on with it. Once I have this perfected, it will become a part of the Made Portrait options for sessions you can have. Our New Year family photo is the first of what will hopefully end up being a dozen images capturing me and my girls in a series of irresponsible situations. There’s a book of concepts I’ve been writing down that’s been building up over the years and I really look forward to working my way through it and pulling the ideas out to see what will work best.

With this photograph, I wanted it to have a serious element of danger that isn’t necessarily obvious when you first look at the shot. I think I’ve achieved that. The lit firework on the window doesn’t appear to be the first thing you notice so you really have to spend a moment looking at the image before picking up on it. This is also the first collaborative portrait I’ve ever done as my eldest daughter Grace worked with me on the retouching and she actually did some of the photoshop work herself. I’m a very proud dad.

So once again allow me to wish you a Happy New Year. I wish you all the best for 2017 and wish you all nothing but success.
